Ronnie James Dio R.I.P.
A few hours ago I received the sad news that Ronnie James Dio had passed away after undergoing many months of cancer treatment : ( He is the legendary singer from Rainbow, Black Sabbath, ELF, DIO & Heaven & Hell.
Soon after cancelling the show in Sweden, Ronnie spoke out about his battle against stomach cancer. I had a very bad feeling then because I lost my father 1997 to the same thing, and stomach cancer is hard to beat. Still my hopes where up and I was wishing for good news and to see him live soon again.
So the world has lost a legend and its all-time best singer. Very sad to see him go. I can’t say that I knew him, unfortunately, but I have had the pleasure of meeting him many times. Yngwie, who was my boyfriend at the time, and I were invited to Ronnie’s 40th birthday back in the 80´s in L.A. Yngwie was one of Ronnie’s potential guitar players for his group DIO. I also met Ronnie in Sweden many times and he was with no doubt the most humble rock star I have ever met. I have never seen or heard of a musician taking the time to stay after every show to sign autographs for so many hours, like he did. He was well known for this, I remember. Having the patience to talk and give the fans his time of the day. It was no surprise that it would be Ronnie that was the main initiator of the all-star collaboration “Hear ‘n Aid”. A fantastic little man with the greatest voice on earth.
R.I.P. Ronnie, we will never forget you or the wonderful music and magical Dio lyrics you have given us over the years. My thoughts are with your family and friends.
His wife & manager Wendy Dio made this statement:
“Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45 a.m. [on Sunday] 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private goodbyes before he peacefully passed away.
Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all.
We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us.
Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss.
Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever.”

Ronnie James Dio’s voice is consistently the most heard on my vinyl/cassette/cd/ I-pod player. These albums below are master pieces from him according to me.

Finally I leave you with the best song in the world – Gates of Babylon.
(Never mind Ritchie Blackmore’s solo, I’m not sure what he is doing… at least Ronnie’s voice is live)
