Matriarch

I call this session Matriarch. That is a society in which women have the central roles of political leadership and moral authority. I like the stories of these powerful amazons. They are not passive, weak and physically helpless. Tarzan used to have a bunch of them in the old movies and comic strips. I used to watch every single movie. Especially the ones with Johnny Weissmuller and Maureen O’ Sullivan that is. Reaching all the way from 1932 until 1948.

Special thanks to photographer Göran Magnusson for putting up with all my crazy ideas and to graphic designer Mattias for excellent editing on these photos.

Until next time Ta-Ta!

Women are the grease that make this world turn. We play an integral role in everything. Dutch women are particularly stubborn and dominant, spending every summer in the Netherlands with my grandmothers and aunts, it was easy to see where I got my cantankerous nature from. Now Cassidy is the same way though raised in the states, she is every bit as flighty and independent as her mother. I teach her to stand up for what she believes in, politely and with class, without worrying what others think. When I see women in submissive roles, it is absolutely fascinating to me and mostly out of my realm of understanding. Is it inherited or enviromental, I don’t know, but I stand up for them too. I would do well with my own matriachal world, I would kick some ass. Love to all of you in Sweden. Mari
