1920’s Inspiration

boop-1-betty-boop-25046793-340-425This is a 1920’s inspired photo shoot with Angi, a model I’ve worked frequently with. It is a conscious version of a modernized variant of the contemporary fashion. I  simply took what I had in my closet. I will show a more accurate 1920’s fashion shoot in february when my sister Amanda, who is a stylist,  is back from her honeymoon from South Africa. We did a collaboration with the magazine “Min Boudoir”, were we dove down into four different decades, 1920’s, 1930’s, 1940’s and 1950’s. We talk about the fashion of make up, clothes and accessories.  “Min Boudoir” is a Lifestyle magazine with focus on vintage, retro and burlesque. Out in shops in Sweden right now.  www.minboudoir.se

Personally I always tend to look back to the 1920’s for inspiration. The decade is fascinating in so many ways. The liberation of the conventional morality that the flapper girls laid the groundwork for generations down the line. They undoubtedly made waves in society by challenging the morals and standards.

Fashion was rebellious and sinful. Loose fit and revealing outfits with a dropped down waist, accessorize with lace, beads and fringes to attract attention. And the make up …aaah the make up, definitely my favorite of all eras. The pale white girl with big round dreamy eyes and a bright dark red little mouth.

This is my interpretation of a 1920’s Hollywood star. I hope you enjoy it. I bought both dresses in Los Angeles. The long dress almost made the total weight for one suit case. Extremely heavy and well-made dress from BlackTie and the short dress is from Maxazria.

David Parland aka “Blackmoon”

Posted in Make Up - Savage Beauty, Savage Beauty Photography with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on October 29, 2012 by Tallee Savage

David Parland aka “Blackmoon” is a Swedish guitarist, best known for his work in the bands Dark Funeral, Necrophobic and Infernal.

He was a member of Necrophobic from its inception in 1989, but quit the band in 1995 to concentrate on Dark Funeral, which he was one of the main founding members of in 1993. Prior to leaving Necrophobic he had, however, written most of the material for the next album. The album Darkside, with Parland’s material intact, was released by Necrophobic in 1997, although Parland himself did not participate as a musician on the album.
Parland also ran the small underground cult record label Hellspawn Records from 1994 to 2002 releasing albums from bands such as Abruptum and his own Dark Funeral, with distribution by House of Kicks, VME and Sound Pollution. After leaving Dark Funeral in 1996, Parland founded the bands War and Infernal. While having kept a low profile and not being actively involved in any bands since the second line-up of Infernal broke up in 2003, Parland announced in January 2009 that he was working on new material with drummer Tomas Asklund (Gorgoroth, Dissection, ex-Dark Funeral). In March 2009 it was revealed that the band would be a continuation of Parland’s old band Infernal. The same year Infernal parted ways for good with drummer Tomas Asklund.
INFERNAL are now preparing for the recording of the long-planned and awaited full-length album “THE INFERNAL RETRIBUTION”, but are at the moment looking for a pro Death/Black/Metal/Heavy Metal drummer for the recording of this album, intended to be out in mid. 2013.

AFRICAN FASHION

Posted in Make Up - Savage Beauty, Savage Beauty Photography with tags , , , , , , , on October 25, 2012 by Tallee Savage

African fashion has evolved tremendously all over the world. The industry continues to grow in substance and strength. Bringing the continents fashion to catwalk across the world.

What better way to present this clothing than with an african beauty like Mandy. The vibrant, colorful, dazzling pattern against her skin really brightened the day and lights up the evenings. There is no doubt that she is passionate about what she does. Her modeling is professional, gracious and fun. I had hell choosing what pictures to use. She did great on all of them.

The clothes are thoroughly chosen for this model especially. I got the dress in Huntington Beach U.S.A and the jewelry is from Venice Beach, hand-made in Kenya .

I really hope you enjoy the photos, because we will be doing more work together very soon :)

Gothic Alien

I was in a galactic mood and my styling will pretty much point towards that direction. Lucky me Angelica was also in an interstellar mood and happy to play along. She is a beautiful gothic alien ready to rule a planet far, far away.

Showing my session with Angi brings up some thoughts on the movie Prometheus (2012) that I saw a couple of weeks ago. Well, to say that my expectations on the movie were high would be an understatement. Ridley Scott, the director of Alien is back in the genre he definitely defined. I would by no means say it was a terrible movie, but it  just did not do it for me … at all. It wasn’t the prequel I was hoping for. The feeling I got when I saw the first movie back in 1979, with Sigourney Weaver, never appeared. But then … barely fifteen minutes left of the movie, my yarn turned in to a jaw-dropping. Some of the best visual effects I ever seen. Ridley Scott is still the master of the craft of Aliens. I could watch the last bit of the movie over and over. Knock out effects!
