In a wink it was gone! Now it’s only one year until next time. I really can’t complain though as my chilean/american christmas lasts for three beautiful days. Same procedure as every year. Only this year we were 18 people, one more person with my sister Violeta’s and Roger’s baby Yindi Lo. It was nice, time of peace and good cheer with all political talk left aside (this year). It’s not easy being the chatelaine I tell you, it takes me a few weeks to prepare everything and when everybody leaves after three days I look like a troll doll (penntroll). The house is now quiet and as I sit in front of the fireplace relaxing, I do find myself missing everybody. I really LOVE having my big family around me <3

tallee-signI hope you all had a marvelous, wonderful, restful Christmas too. Here are some photos I took while doing our christmas photo sessions. First out is my daughter Adina.

A session with Fine Art Nude model Jasmine Sundström. A girl with many passions, but what I like the most about her is her bright and joyful way of seeing life in general. Always conducting interesting debates, open-minded and eager to learn. Extremely easy to work with too.  Here is a previous session from last year if you’d like to check that out as well. “Androgyny Fashion

Swedish Union Magazine for “Performing Arts and Film”

Posted in Make Up - Savage Beauty, Savage Beauty Photography with tags , , , , , , , , on March 20, 2014 by Tallee Savage

This is a photo session I did with my sister Amanda and her hubby Björn. The photos have been used for promotion of Independent Kostym who has the largest collection of costumes for professionals in Scandinavia.

The photo of my sister is now featuring on the cover of the latest issue of the Swedish Union Magazine for “Performing Arts and Film” (Teaterförbundet för scen och film) among other photos and projects we have done together and including a big interview with her. You can read how she and her colleagues work in a fabulous place that have dressed the Scandinavian Film and Theatre Industry since the 1930’s. How Independent kostym offers both rental and manufacturing of the costumes for film production, television, theatre and corporate events. With over 1,600 square meters in Stockholm. The staff has experience and knowledge on costume history and costume design and they are experts on realizing the ideas and visions brought upon them for all kinds of productions. Amanda tells you more about her work as a costumiere and life at Independent Kostym. It is in swedish folk… Thank God for Google Translate :D

Understanding women

Posted in Make Up - Savage Beauty, Model 40, Savage Beauty Photography with tags , , , on March 12, 2014 by Tallee Savage

“I don’t hang out with girls because they’re dramatic bitches. I prefer to hang out with guys”. Recognize that sentence? I do… that was the way I felt for many year when I was a girl. Girls could be so harsh, mean and jealous towards each other. While boys encouraged teamwork, girls saw trouble when playing more than two person at a time. Always leaving somebody out. Bickering, criticizing and talking behind each others backs. I never understood that :( So it just made it simpler for me to hang out with the boys. Climb trees and doing other exciting mischief. Over the years I have thought a lot about that. Wondering if maybe there is an unrealistic role and expectations set for girls. Instead of teaching them to work as a group to lift up and help each other. Women tend to have the need to look down on others of the same gender, while boys are taught to be strong, independent and self-confident.

I read somewhere: “Don’t try to understand women; women understand women, and they hate each other.” And honestly, I think the mentality and hatred for other females might come from within. It’s easy to hate one another if you are not content with yourself, I guess. I often hear chicks talk about others. Saying things like “Who does she think she is?” Negativity, judgemental, put-down mentality, criticizing, undermining, undercutting each other.. you name it! Thinly veiled jealousy when seeing other women stepping up an claiming a level of entitlement they can only dream of. An entitlement they either don’t know how to, or don’t feel entitled to claim for themselves. The uncomfortable truth is that some women still feel equivocal about other women’s success. Kicking away the latter rather than offer a hand to aspire. Instead of standing united, being positive and strengthen each other. I thought we were nurturing by nature. But I’ve noticed lots of times that’s not the case at all.

Anyway this does not apply to everyone of course. Just a general perception. But loving ourselves and loving each other is a very good thing. Be kind and generous and spread good vibes and energy. Support, help and encourage each other. And when you do find friends and colleagues who are supportive and understand you and have your best interest in mind – Hold on to them <3

tallee-signI had the pleasure of working with two lovely, beautiful, warm-hearted ladies last week, Sylvia Jansson and Maarit Psajd, while doing a photo shoot with them. I will show photos from that session in a few weeks. Sylvia has a new blog and she talks about this same topic. I’m humbled by the nice words she wrote about me. You can read it here >>>, but it is in Swedish folks ;)

Do you procrastinate?

Posted in Savage Beauty Photography with tags , , on October 3, 2013 by Tallee Savage

Do you procrastinate?
I hate the word Later.
– Can you do your homework?
– Yeah later!
– Can we pay the bills now?
-Sure… later?
-Can you return the stuff I lent you a year ago?
-Yeah, next time around.
-Can you respond to the e-mail I sent you a week ago?
-Sure, I will.
Does this feel familiar?
You know later always really means another day, month, year… or not doing it at all. The procrastinator do not see the advantages in positive outcome of doing things when they are supposed to: On Time! To delay the process of pain? To drop something for something else more comfortable? To accumulate things…until later, later, LATER!  We all know the task, problem, payment, debts or responsibility  vanish … and the pleasure that derives from delaying or putting things off itself just brings pain and problems in the long run. So why postpone? Does it help? Nooo, it rarely does. It adds up pressure. You piss people off, piss yourself off and it builds up guilt. The incomplete work remains. So why wait until the last minute? Why cause others and yourself so much unnecessary anxiety and stress? Disorganized, lazy or too optimistic? I see the same patterns in the same people and it stresses me out…because it involves me, ruins my schedule and it´s just plainly negative behaviour. I’m the opposite and glad to be. I’m not saying I’m a better person… but I’m just organized and put a lot of value in keeping deadlines and promises that I make to others and myself! I feel the satisfaction of having finished the work is a very delightful and fair feeling.
Anyway, I just feel that it´s really a self-sabotaging behaviour, and I also think a lot of people are deceiving themselves when they think that theyhave good reasons for delaying getting on with what they have to do. The procrastinators are experts on the “victim” mindset. They waste their own time and other people’s valtallee-signuable time. The problem will not vanish!! Take care of it NOW if there is no reason stopping you to do so. Really… Life is just too short. Today is the Day, not later, not tomorrow… at least for a lot of things that can be done ; ) So Yeah… Not later – NOW!

Jon Lord – The Trondheim Experiment

Posted in Bands & Artists, Savage Beauty Photography with tags , , , , , , , , , , on September 25, 2013 by Tallee Savage

This is a beautiful concert I’d like ALL of you who love Jon Lord to listen to. My friend Christer Lorichs spent hundreds of hours putting together pieces to compile a complete version of Jon Lord’s concert filmed at Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim, Norway in 2010. Photos, interviews, footage from the rehearsals etc. Everything is unreleased before and came to life with the blessings of Jon Lord’s family and management.

“The Trondheim Experiment” is the title of this now free web presentation available exclusively through JonLord.org. including highlights from Jon Lord’s entire career performed with The Lord Chamber Orchestra, Steve Balsamo and my dear friend Nathalie Lorichs on vocals. The backing band also features members of Opeth. I’m so proud of Nathalie, she enchants with her fairy-like voice on the “Evening song”, Wait A While ” and “The Sun Will Shine Again” which is dedicated to Ronnie James Dio. Opeth’s drummer Martin Axenrot does a spectacular drum solo in the song Gigue… and “Child in Time”, so good it gives me the shivers… A must see!!! Inspirational powers of Jon Lord, onetallee-sign of the true greats of our time that sadly left us July 2012.

Please pass on the link to every Jon Lord and Deep Purple fan out there! >>>

Fashion of the early 1900s

Posted in Model 40, Savage Beauty Photography with tags , , , , on September 20, 2013 by Tallee Savage

The “S” figure of the end of the decade were now replaced with a more natural figure. A straight line adopted and eventually the frills and flounces of the previous decade were gone.
Hats of the era were quite prominent. With masses of flowers and feathers on top of it. They became smaller and flatter as they reached their peak in size early as the 1920s came along.
I love the elegance and eloquent of those contemporary times and felt quite comfortable walking around the studio like a madame. Dress, umbrella and hat from Independent kostym in Stockholm.

If you are curious about the fashion of 1900-1910, watch this video. This kind of Ragtime music had its peak at popularity between 1997 and 1918. The song is called “Maple Leaf Rag” played by Scott Joplin.
